Police, CRPF personnel rewarded for saving tourists in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 20 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police gave Rs one lakh in reward to its men and the personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for saving the lives of more than 200 tourists and locals from the storm that hit various parts of the state on Friday.

The police and CRPF personnel had rescued more than 200 tourists and locals from the Dal and Nigeen Lakes and also from the areas lying on the Northern Foreshore road here on Friday evening after they got stranded at different places due to the storm.

The police and CRPF personnel men were out well past midnight to ensure that nobody remained missing. Some of the people were found even past midnight.

To recognise the life saving efforts of the police and CRPF personnel, recommendations for suitable awards would be submitted to the state government soon.
