Police claim 'positive breakthrough' in serial killer case
New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) Police today claimed to have made a ''positive breakthrough'' in the serial killer case and said they were ''very close'' to cracking the case.
Investigations were moving in the right direction and we have made a positive breakthrough in the case, said Delhi police spokesman Rajan Bhagat.
''We are leading in the right direction and hope to wrap up the case very soon.'' Meanwhile, sources said the team which had gone to Uttar Pradesh for investigation purposes has 'arrested' one person from there.
''Merely the verification part of his identity, the motive and the weapon used in the crime was left.'' The team was returning and maybe by late tonight itself the matter may be solved, sources added.
Throwing an open challenge before the police the killer had dumped the headless body of his fourth victim close to the high security Tihar Jail on May 18.
Earlier, thrice -- April 25, December 20 and October 27 -- bodies had been found dumped outside the jail, situated in one of the most 'secured areas' of the Capital, along with a ''catch me if you can'' note tagged to it.
