'Lift restriction on allotment of land to Gaushalas'

Jaipur, May 20: The Rajasthan Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Samvardhan Parishad, a Sangh Parivar outfit working for protection of cows, has urged the state government to set up state fodder development authority and amend state revenue rules to lift the restriction on allotment of land for gaushalas.

The organisation has warned that it will file a petition in the Rajasthan High Court within a fortnight if the rules were not amended to meet its demand.

The parishad executive president Jai Bahadur Singh Shekhawat said here that the previous Gehlot government had amended revenue rules in 2002 to put a rider of maximum one hectare land allotment for gaushalas with 250 bovine animals.

He said this amendment was impractical as it is not possible to keep 250 bovines in a plot of one hectare and therefore, the government should address the issue and amend rules appropriately.

Mr Shekhawat said a resolution was adopted on this issue at the parishad's convention held here today. Delegates from 50 gaushalas from differenmt parts of the state participated in the convention.

The convention also demanded effective check on migration of bovine animals to neighbouring states from Bharatpur, Dholpur, Alwar and Karauli districts of the state in the want of fodder and said appropriate steps should be taken for providing fodders to the cattle owners.
