New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) The Karnataka-based Srinivas Group of Educational Institutions will enroll students from the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi in its professional colleges at Mangalore from the current academic session.

This was announced here today by Mr Srinivas Rao, Vice-Chairman, Shama Rao Foundation, Mangalore, which runs a number of professional education institutes in Karnataka.

The Foundation runs 13 professional colleges having an intake capacity of 1500 students in various professional courses like engineering, medical, pharmacy, nursing, computer science and hotel management.

Mr Rao said his group had tied up with the Laxman Public School (LPS) here for enrolment of Delhi students for its Mangalore campus from the current academic session. ''Students admitted through Laxman Public School will be charged nominal fee as applicable to the Karnataka students who are admitted directly,'' he added.

LPS (Hauz Khas branch) Principal Usha Ram has been nominated as a Director (admission) of the Institute.

The Vice-Chairman said his institute would set up examination centres in Delhi for conducting entrance tests for admission in 13 professional colleges at Mangalore from the next academic year.

Mr Rao said the Foundation was planning to set up a deemed university at Mangalore to meet the growing demand for seats in professional courses at a reasonable fee structure for middle class students.

The Foundation has chalked out plans to invest Rs 100 crore to set up the campus for the proposed university, which would come up in next four years. It will tie up with prestigious foreign universities for curriculum development and exchange programmes.

He said plans were also afoot to set up a medical college at Suratkal on the outskirts of Mangalore city from the next academic session with an initial investment of Rs 100 crore.

Ms Ram said Delhi students would be provided seats available under management quota in engineering, physiotherapy, nursing, pharmacy, hotel management and computer applications for the current session, admission process for which had already started.

''The school will undertake extensive networking with all public schools of Delhi under which its 10 plus 2 class students will be provided detailed information and counselling for enrolment in different courses,'' she said, adding it would relieve them of admission-related tension.
