Govt agencies purchase 30 lakh tonne wheat in Haryana

Chandigarh, May 20 (UNI) Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that as much as 30.63 lakh metric tonne (MT) of wheat had been procured by the six government agencies which was 10.33 lakh MT more than the total purchase of last year.

He said the arrival also had crossed the last year's figure by 3.89 lakh MT from the total 30.20 lakh MT arrival during the last year Rabi season.

While stating this here today Mr Chander Mohan said last year, the total arrival of the wheat in the mandis was 30.20 lakh MT and 75 per cent of the total arrival was purchase by the government agencies while the remaining 25 per cent by the traders.

He said that during this season, 90 per cent of the total wheat arrival was purchased by the government procuring agencies while the rest was brought by the traders. He said that 98 per cent of the wheat had been lifted from the mandis and 15.21 lakh MT wheat had already been delivered to Food Corporation of India (FCI) for the Central Pool.
