BJP activists apprehends threat to his life from Congressmen

Shimla, May 20 (UNI) A BJP activist campaigning for the party candidates in the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) elections today alleged threat to life from Congressmen and has sought police protection.

K S Yogi, in his complaint to the local police, alleged that people residing above his house in Taradevi, near here, were threatening him with swords and sticks.

Naming five families in the locality who were threatening and harassing him, he said, adding four of these were government employees and are openly campaigning for the Congress Party.

Mr Yogi said the trouble arose when he noticed 42 bogus votes in the house of a Congress activist, who has been threatening him with dire consequences along with other people of the locality.

He said the Congressmen of the area should be held responsible in case anything happened to him in future.

BJP's Shimla district president Roop Dass Kashyap has condemned the alleged harassment and threat to the life of party activist K S Yogi.

In a release here, he said the Congress was resorting to such tactics after realising that it was likely to suffer defeat in the corporation elections.
