Two Bangladesh nationals arrested with fake currency

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 19 (UNI) The police has busted a fake currency racket with the arrest of two Bangladeshi nationals here today.

Police seized fake notes worth Rs four lakh in the denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 lakh from their possession.

During a search of hotels and lodges, following the blast in Hyderabad yesterday, police stumbled upon the duo, who put at Hotel Punjab in the railway station area.

According to the police, around 0300 hours, they visited the hotel and inquired about the new visitors. The policemen grew suspicious of the two foreign nationals, who were posing as tourists Abdul Mutallin Hafiz (40), and Ruhul Amin Abdulrob (35). While searching their belongings, the policemen found the fake currency notes.

The duo told the police that they had come on a tour of India about a month ago and had stayed earlier in Mumbai and Hyderabad.

They then proceeded to Nanded, from where they arrived at Aurangabad yesterday.

The crime branch is investigating whether the duo had any link with the blast at Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad in which 16 people were killed.
