Local court extends police remand of fake encounter accused
Ahmedabad, May 19 (UNI) A local court today extended the police remand of three policemen--Police Inspector N H Dabhi, constable Ajay Parmar and Santram Sharma--for two more days.
Gujarat CID (Crime) had arrested them in connection with the fake encounter of criminal Sohrabuddin Shaikh along with three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers -- Deputy Inspector General of Police D G Vanzara, Superintendents of Police Rajkumar Pandiyan and M N Dinesh.
The court, however, posted to May 25 the application of police for the brain-mapping and narco analysis tests of the three personnel.
A similar application for the tests on the three IPS officers will come up the same day. Vanzara, Pandiyan and Dinesh were arrested in April and they are now in judicial custody.
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court rejected the demand for the CBI inquiry and directed Inspector General of Police Geetha Johari, who is investigating the case, to conduct investigation independently and asked her to submit the report directly to it and not to her superior official.
