Fear of pollution from cruise in Bhopal lake
Bhopal, May 19 (UNI) Pollution could jbe caused due cruise -- launched by the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation for attracting tourists -- in the lake in the state capital.
Collector S K Mishra told reporters here today that precaution needs to be exercised before setting up the diesel or petrol-run cruise on water in order to prevent pollution.
He said the MPSTDC had granted permission for launching the cruise after testing it on environmental standards. However, regular testing must be carried out so that pollution was not spread by the cruise.
Nestled against a backdrop of hills, the lake is set to become one of the largest centre of water sports in Asia. A cruise has been launched in the lake on the lines of Hyderabad so that 70 people could enjoy ride together along with food.
A senior MPTDC official told UNI that the cruise was pollution-free and was launched after obtaining necessary clearance from concerned agencies.
