Village level committees to create awareness among women

Shimla, May 18 (UNI) Village level co-ordination committees will create awareness among women and children on various issues pertaining to them through community communication, Social Welfare and Empowerment Director Anuradha Thakur said today.

Presiding over a workshop here, she said 7,354 village level coordination committee had been constituted in the state and regular meeting of these committees were being held on the third of every month.

Ms Thakur said the department was planning to publish eleven booklets on various issues pertaining to women and children and included books on objectives of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), milestones of child development, nutrition and malnutrition, safe motherhood, water usage and sanitation.

This informative and communicative literature would go a long way in educating the masses for building a healthy society, she said.

Detailing the various Acts implemented by the state government to benefit women, children and elderly people, Ms Thakur said information of these acts would help them in taking recourse to it in times of need.
