Uncle shoots down niece, lover in home

Bhathinda, May (UNI) A man, who caught his niece and her lover in a compromising position, shot them dead on the spot today at Dhobiana Basti in this town, police said.

According to police sources, an enraged Ram Singh, fired three rounds from his .12 bore rifle upon the lovers, killing Paramjit Kaur, daughter of his elder brother Jarnail Singh and an unidentified youth.

The deceased girl Paramjit, 23, hailed from Kriarwala village near Rampura Phool. She was a third year BA student and was staying at Ram Singh's house to finish her graduation here.

Of the three bullets he fired, one hit Paranjit on the chest while two hit the unidentified youth on head. The youth, of the same age as the girl, had 'Barar' tattooed on one arm, police said.

Ram Singh's family was out of station at the time of the incident. He himself had gone out of the house on some errand but had made an early return.

After shooting down the lovers, Ram Singh, who is also a maternal uncle of Dera Sachcha Sauda Chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh's son-in-law, surrendered himself at the local police station and a case under section 302 has been registered, police said.
