Three candidates withdraw papers for Hamirpur Lok Sabha by-polls
Shimla, May 18 (UNI) Six candidates remain in fray for the Lok Sabha by-polls from Hamirpur constituency of Himachal Pradesh that goes to the polls on June two after three candidates withdrew their names on the last day of the withdrawal today.
Amin Chand, Matawar Singh, and Sq leader (retd) Brij Lal withdrew their nomination on the last day of withdrawal, a state election commission official said here.
He said the Congress has fielded state Forest Minister Ram Lal Thakur, while PK Dhumal is the BJP's candidate, along with four independents Subhash Chand, Desh Raj Sharma, Saberdeen and Prem Chand.
The official said the Commission also allotted symbols to the candidates with Mr Dhumal being allotted the Lotus, Mr Thakur Hand, Mr Chand bat, Saberdeen letterbox, Desh Raj gas cylinder and Prem Chand Ceiling fan.
The polling for the Hamirpur parliamentary seat would be held on June two.
