Stone-throwing in city after man's death

Vadodara, May 18 (UNI) Incidents of stone-throwing were reported from Fatehpura and adjoining areas of the city today after a man, who was arrested along with four others in connection with last Saturday's disturbances during a marriage procession here, died of a massive heart attack while in police custody.

Idris Khatri,55, after being kept overnight at the police station, complained this morning of chest pain. He was rushed to SSG hospital and given treatment. Later, while the police were bringing him back, he died on way between Panigate area and Mandvi road.

Tension prevailed as news of the death spread.

Stone-throwing was reported from adjoining areas of Jamnabhai hospital and in pockets of Fatehpura. All shops and business establishments were closed. The situation is tense but under control, police sources said.
