Security beefed up in places of worship in TN also

Chennai, May 18 (UNI) Security has been beefed up in all well-known temples and the places of worship of other religions in the wake of the bomb blast at the Mecca Mosque in Hyderabad today.

Top police sources told UNI that devotees were being allowed into the places of worship only after a thorough check with metal detectors.

The sources said persons moving about in suspiciously were being closely watched.

In Chennai city also, security was tightened in well-known temples, mosques and churches, city police Commissioner Letika Saren told newspersons here.

Adequate police forces had been deployed aespecially at places where mosques were present, like Triplicane area in the city, she added.

Police patrolling has also been intensified throughout the city, she said.

Meanwhile, railway sources said all trains to Andhra Pradesh were thoroughly checked. The luggage of the passengers was also being checked.
