Sanjay Dutt does not appear before court for health reasons
Mumbai, May 18 (UNI) Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who has been convicted under the Arms Act in the 1993 serial blasts case, did not appear before the designated TADA court which commenced pronouncing the quantum of sentences upon the convicts from today.
Dutt did not appear before the court on the ground that he was unwell.
His counsel, Farhana Shah, told the court that Dutt was unwell and, so, could not appear before the court. The Bollywood actor, however, has been directed to appear before the court on Monday.
Meanwhile, special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam informed reporters that he had submitted the list of probation officers in the state to the court and it was now the discretion of the court to call for reports of the convicts.
As many as 93 convicts have moved applications seeking relief under the Probation of Offenders Act.
