SAD urges Haryana Govt to take action

Chandigarh, May 18 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal today urged the Haryana Government to come down heavily against those who were out to disturb peace and communal harmony in Punjab and the rest of the country.

A Political Affairs Committee meeting of the party held here today condemned the alleged act of Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh in trying "to replicate the holy appearance of Guru Gobind Singh by appearing in hyprocritical dress like the robes graced by the Great Guru" "The provocative acts in Sirsa (Haryana) are aimed at destabilizing peace and harmony in Punjab", a resolution adopted at the meeting said and added the Haryana Government must deal with this provocation with a firm hand.

The meeting placed on record its appreciation of the restraint, firmness and surefooted approach displayed by the Punjab Government in dealing with this inflamable situation. The Government has been able to safeguard peace and communal harmony from the challenges posed by anti-social elements, the resolution said.

The meeting also placed on record its appreciation of the unity displayed by people belonging to different communities in Punjab and the country in condemning the "henious attempts to show disrespect of the Tenth Master".

The meeting appealed to the entire Khalsa Panth, Punjabis and the countrymen to unitedly face and defeat the latest challenge to peace and communal harmony.
