Varanasi, May 18 (UNI) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) activists mourned loss of lives in the Mecca mosque blast through a special prayer on the banks of Ganga river here this evening.

Led by Iqbal Ahmad Rayin, divisional president of the party, RJD activists lit up countless 'diyas' on the Shitla Ghat to pray for peace of those killed in the blast at the historic Hyderabad mosque.

Mr Rayin, blaming the Y S Rajsekhar Reddy government for failing to prevent the blast, demanded that the Andhra Chief Minister quit from his post over the incident.

''At a press conference just after the blast, Mr Reddy has admitted that the Andhra government had been provided inputs about prospects of such an incident in the recent past. But he failed to act timely on the intelligence inputs and thus he should quit his job as CM,'' Mr Rayin added.
