Rain brings relief to Kolkatans

Kolkata, May 18 (UNI) Kolkata and its suburbs today witnessed smart showers, bringing the much-needed respite to the sweating people from the usual scorching heat.

Met officials recorded maximum temperature of 33.5 degree Celsius, three degree below normal, while the minimum temperature was 26.9 degree Celsius.

Humidity in and around the city went up to 92 per cent, whereas the minimum humidity recorded was 67 per cent.

Rainfall in the city and in its suburbs was recorded 0.8 mm, said the officials.

Met officials forecast partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thundershowers in some areas during next 24 hours and the maximum temperature would be pegged at around 34 degree Celsius.
