Prohibitory orders in 8 districts of Haryana
Chandigarh, May 18 (UNI) The Haryana government today imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Cr PC in eight districts of the state in the wake of the ongoing strife between Sacha Sauda followers and Sikh activists, especially in neighbouring Punjab.
An official spokesman said the districts where prohibitory orders were clamped were Sirsa, Faridabad, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Ambala and Yamunanagar.
However, he made it clear that the law and order situation in Haryana was under control and the imposition of the provisions of the section 144 was only a preventive measure so that anti-social elements might not disturb peace and tranquility in the state.
As per the provisions of this section, assembly of more than four persons and carrying of fire arms and sharp edged weapons or lathis had been banned in these districts, he said.
Meanwhile, the government had urged the people to maintain communal amity and peace and beware of rumour-mongering.
