Newsman assaulted by govt employees

Barrackpore, May 18 (UNI) The journalist of a local TV News Magazine was assaulted by the staff of the administrative office of the Sub-divisional Office here in North-24 Parganas district.

The incident occurred yesterday when Arindam Ray Chowdhury of TV Magazine 'Khoborer Khonje' had gone to the Prashashanik (administrative) Bhawan along with his crew to film the alleged plight of the staff.

He said the staff spent nearly 36 hours in black-out due to power cut.

The TV crew was covering the plight of the staff members when some of them objected to the media coverage. They alleged that the magazine did not obtain permission from the concerned authorities.

It was then that he was allegedly man-handled by the employees.
