Kerala Supplyco to take on retail-giants
Thiruvananthapuram, May 18 (UNI) Kerala Food and Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran today said the Civil Supplies Corporation would equip to meet the advent of retail-giants to the state.
Addressing a review meeting at the Supplyco headquarters here, he said the high demand for 'Sabari Tea', a product of Supplico in the market, beating all other major producers motivated the government to take a decision in this regard.
Stating that consumers satisfaction was the slogan of the Supplyco, he said the government would soon launch a project, supplying essential commodities at the door steps of consumers on demand.
Disclosing that functioning of 'Hyper Markets' would start soon, he said construction of one such market would be completed this year.
Pointing out that the government had made effective market intervention to check the price hike in the open markets, he claimed that during the past six months Supplyco was the only PSU in the country not to increase the prices of essential commodities.
The Minister said many Malayalee organisations had urged him to open Maveli stores in Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai and added that the government was seriously considering to open a Maveli market in Delhi.
