Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) today arrested accounts officer of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) for accepting a bribe of Rs ten thousand from a retired employee.

A VO spokesman said a retired electrician of SRTC lodged a written complaint with the police station VO, Srinagar, that Accounts Officer Ghulam Mohammad Bhat was demanding a bribe of Rs ten thousand for settlement of Rs 2,57,000 pensionary benefits in his favour.

The VO officials laid a successful trap in the SRTC headquarter and arrested Bhat red handed when he was accepting the bribe amount today.

The amount was recovered from Bhat's possession in presence of independent witnesses.
