Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir High Court has ordered the release of six persons arrested under Public Safety Act (PSA) while State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) directed the government to pay compensation to an injured person in the Valley.

A single bench comprising Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain quashed the detention of six persons under PSA for their alleged involvement in the militancy related incidents.

After hearing arguments from both the sides, Justice Hussain ordered their immediate release after the prosecutor failed to prove the allegations levelled against them in the chargesheet.

Those whose release was ordered by the court, included Mohammad Khalil, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad, Mohammad Amin, Mohammad Hanief and Abid Hussain.

The commission hearing a petition filed by one Ghulam Mohiuddin, a resident of Beeru, directed the authorities to pay Rs one lakh to him.

According to the petition, Mohiuddin was seriously wounded when he fell from a bridge during a cross firing at Badgam in 2000, when a group of fidayeen (members of suicide squad) attacked an army camp there.

He was admitted to hospital but was rendered disabled.

The victim could not move from one place to another without help, the petition said.
