HP government announces public holiday on May 23 for SMC
Shimla, May 18 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government today declared a public holiday on May 23 on the day elections to the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) are to be held, an official spokesman said.
Employees working in government offices, boards, corporations, educational institutions and industrial establishments within the committee area would remain close on that day due to polling, he said in a release here.
The spokesman said this would be a paid holiday to the daily wage employees under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
