Patna, May 18 (UNI) The Patna High Court today dismissed the petition of incarcerated Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD MP, Mohammad Shahabuddin seeking amalgamation of five FIRs lodged against him in connection with separate cases.

The five separate FIRs were lodged against Sahabuddin at Hussainganj police station in Siwan district on April 24, 2005 following recovery of some stolen vehicles, huge foreign currencies and unlicensed fire-arms from his residence.

A single bench of Justice S K Sharma dismissed the petition after rejecting the plea of the petitioner that the FIRs were lodged on the basis of recoveries on a single day and hence all cases should be amalgamated into one.

Opposing the arguments, state counsel submitted before the court that police investigation in three out of five cases had already been completed and trials were on in these cases.

Under the circumstances amalgamation of FIRs would not be proper at this stage.

Earlier, the court had reserved the order in this case on May 14.
