Glittering TV stars to dazzle viewers at Star Parivaar Awards

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) After series of film awards events witnessing many a heartthrob from the big screen scorch the stage with their glittering presence, it's time for the stars from the small screen to dazzle viewers with their charisma.

And, what better an occasion to do so than the 'Star Parivaar Awards', the most awaited television awards nite, one that brings together the entire television industry on one platform.

Celebrating and felicitating some remarkable contributions by Star Parivar's own family members over the past 5 years from 'Tusi' to 'Parvati' to 'Prerna' to 'Kumkum' to 'Pammi' to 'Om' to 'Mihir', 'Kavya', 'Sumeet', 'Bajaj' to 'Dev' will be the Star Parivaar Awards 2007, to be aired on Star Plus on May 20, which will laud the memorable and remarkable performances by those associated with the serials on Star Plus over the past 5 years.

A one of its kind awards night where characters of the serials rather than the actors themselves are honoured for their performances, the Star Parivaar Awards, 2007 will be aired on Star Plus at 8 pm on May 20, the channel said.

The show will be aired in two parts, with its half hour special on the grand Red Carpet welcome of its celebrated TV artists to be aired tomorrow at 7.30 pm and the main event, the awards night to be aired on Sunday from 8.00 pm onwards.

The awards evening will witness some enthralling stage acts and performances by some of televisions most popular, leading names like Rucha Gujrati-Bhanujeet ('Bhaabi'), Gaurav-Megha ('Kumkum'), Naryani Shastri, Manav Gohil, Shweta Tiwari ('Kasautii Zindagii Kay'), Yash Tonk, Palli Subhash ('Karam Apna Apna'), Neena Gupta, Ketki Dave, Akashdeep Sehgal, Jay Bhanushali, Hiten, Gauri Pradhan, Sangeeta Ghosh, Shabbir Ahluwalia and Varun Badola.

Further, three new members of the Star parivaar this year -Ashima Bhalla, Karan Grover and Soumya Tandon (from 'Meri Awaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni') will perform on the title track of the show.

While Narayani Shastri and Ali Asgar with fellow artist Manav Gohil will set the stage ablaze with their performances on foot-tapping tracks of 'Hey Babu' and 'Signal Pyar Ka' from the hit entertainer of the year- 'Bhagam Bhaag', Shweta Tewari (Prerna of 'Kasauti Zindagi Kay' will jive on 'Saiyan Re...' from 'Salaam-e-ishq'.

Also to be featured in the show will be high voltage performances by Yash Tonk and Pallavi Subhashin on 'Chali Chali', 'Shava Shava' and 'Gori Gori', while Mouni Roy (KT from Kyunki....) unleashes her dancing talent with the track 'Barso Re Megha' (Guru).

The show will also have the three celebrity hosts - Sangeeta, Shabbir and Varun - perform to a parody of songs from 'Laawaris', 'Lagaan', 'Omkara', 'Pyar Ki Side Effects' and finally roll it all into the title track of Star Parivaar Awards.

This year, the 'Star Parivaar Awards' will be awarding those members of its family that have won the hearts of the viewers over the past 5 years. The awards have been divided into the 'Hall of Fame' and 'Popular' categories.

The Hall of Fame categories will comprise of those faces that have been a part of the channel in the past like Neena Gupta, Renuka Shahane. And like always, the audiences will get a chance to choose their best and favorite characters who are nominated from amongst the 23 different categories including Best 'buzurg' (elder of the family), 'chhota bachcha', 'naya sadasya', 'maa-pita', 'beti-beta', 'bhai-behen', 'bhabhi-devar', 'devrani-jethani', 'pati-patni', 'saas-bahu', 'saut'.

The uniqueness of the award is that it acknowledges not just the actor, but more so the character. This award thus measures the popularity an actor brings to a character.

Among the nominees for award for the favourite 'jodi'(best on screen pair) are Kavya and Anjali ('Kavyaanjali'), Dev and Pammi ('Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand'), Karan and Nandini ('Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi'), Sumeet and Kumkum ('Kum Kum), Bajaj and Prerna ('Kasautii Zindagii Kay'), Om and Parvati ('Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki'), Mihir and Tulsi ('Kyunki Saas bhi..') and Gautam and Priya.
