Five killed in bomb blast at historical mosque in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, May 18 (UNI) At least five people were killed and several injured in a bomb explosion at the historical Mecca Masjid, located near the world-famous Charminar, in the old city area during Friday prayers this afternoon.

Police said the injured were immediately rushed to nearby Osmania General hospital.

Special police forces were deployed at the sensitive old city to prevent any untoward incident. Special teams reached the spot to ascertain the intensity of the blast.

Around 1,000 people had gathered in the mosque to offer Friday prayers.
