Controversial exhibition to continue in MP capital
Bhopal, May 18 (UNI) A controversial painting exhibition on terrorism would continue at this City of Lakes' multi-art centre Bharat Bhavan despite protest demonstrations.
''There is no plan to postpone 'The Face of Terror'. In fact, the large number of visitors makes it seem as if the event will have to be extended beyond May 20. There is no objection against a democratic protest but the attempt by certain demonstrators to enter the gallery sans permission and create anarchy is condemnable,'' the Bhavan's Chief Administrative Officer Narendra Deepak told UNI today.
A police complaint was lodged against those demonstrators. Madhya Pradesh's main opposition Congress and a few organisations alleged that the exhibition, which got underway on May 15, depicted a certain community as the face of terror.
Painters and intellectuals slammed the situation by saying that such disputes dealt a body blow to the Bhavan's prestige. They feel that the paintings and their theme ought to have been reviewed prior to the exhibition.
