Civic bodies' polls in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, May 18 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh State Election Office has set June 17 as the date for polling to fill up vacancies in civic bodies and three-tier panchayats.

Nomination papers may be filed between May 26 and June 2.

Candidates may withdraw their names until June 6 and counting would take place on June 19. The number of vacant posts are janpad panchayat members 21, sarpanchs 210 and panchs 1,550.

As the electoral process is underway for assembly bypolls to Rajnandgaon district's Khairagarh and Janjgir-Champa's Malkharauda, the panchayat hustings would be announced later for those areas.
