15th Leather Fair begins in New Delhi

New Delhi, May 18: More than 130 companies from across the globe will display their wares at the 15th Delhi International Leather Fair (DILF) which began here today.

The three-day fair has been organised by the India Trade Promotion and Organisation (ITPO) with a theme of 'Footwear and footwear components'.

''India is a source of over 10 per cent of the global leather requirement and is internationally recognised as the most important resource base for leather process technology,'' ITPO Managing Director N N Khanna said here.

Exhibitors from countries like China, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan and the US will participate in the fair.

DILF will have on display a wide range of products such as shoes, leather garments, fashion accessories, leather goods - travelware, belts, gloves, portfolios, handbags and wallets, saddlery and harness, machinery and equipments, chemicals, publications and consultancy services.

The leather industry's contributes 2.7 billion dollars to the country's economy, Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna said while inaugurating the fair.
