12 killed, 60 injured in Mecca Masjid blasts, RDX used: CM

Hyderabad, May 18 (UNI) Twelve persons were killed, four of them on the spot and more than 60 others including children injured, when the remote controlled 'RDX' explosive ripped through a crowded prayer meeting at the historic Mecca Masjid in the old city today.

''The bomb was very sophisticated and RDX was used in the blast'', Andhra Pradesh Chief Minsiter Y S Rajasekhara Reddy told the media at the Osmania Government Hospital, which he visited immediately on his return from New Delhi.

The Chief Minister said an inquiry had been ordered and ''details and those behind the incident would be traced out in 24 hours.'' Meanwhile, state Home Minister K Jana Reddy admitted that two of three people might have been killed in the police firing, and this way being verified.

MIM MP Asaduddin Owasi however claimed that seven persons were killed in police firing and his party had called for a 24 hour bandh in the twin cities tomorrow.
