Wild elephant attacks a villager

Madikeri, May 17 (UNI) A Forty eight year old man was attacked by a wild elephant at 7th Hoskote near here in the early hours of today.

Raju had a surprise visitor when he came out of his house in the morning, but little did he know that elephant which was standing in front of his house would attack him. The wild animal lifted him on it's trunk and throwed him on the ground. When a neighbour woman up roared with fear, the elephant was confused and fled away.

Another elephant also tried to attack Thangamani a woman in the neighbouring house, however she escaped miraculously. After the incident other three other wild elephants also started moving towards nearby houses. The residents fled away from the house and protected themselves from being attacked.

The seriously injured Raju has been admitted to Venlock hospital, Mangalore.

The 7th Hoskote villagers, especially in Kallur Road side always move in fear due to the continuous elephant menace. Many elephants have camped in the surrounding area. The forest officials keep mum about the developments without taking any steps.
