Wakf minister Anees Ahmed's resignation demanded
Mumbai, May 17 (UNI) The controversy surrounding the Wakf board in Maharashtra has reached its peak, with Congress MLC Dr M A Aziz demanding the resignation of Wakf minister Anees Ahmed.
Talking to reporters here today, Dr Aziz, chairman of the Maharashtra Wakf Board, claimed that the Minister can give the board direction but cannot force to do the same.
Mr Ahmed, whom he described as very close to a top functionary in Congress high command, was trying to interfere in his work, he said.
Dr Aziz claimd that Mr Ahmed was involved in setting aside the various orders of the board to which he was not entitled, as only the board of directors were entitled for the same.
A meeting will be held tomorrow at Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's chamber to sort out the issue, he added.
