Video piracy: 3 arrested, CDs seized

Chennai, May 17 (UNI) The Central Crime Branch police today seized a huge number of pirated VCDs and labels of new movies printed by an offset printing unit at Border Thottam area in the city today.

Acting on a tip off, a team, led by Sub-Inspector of Police Isakki Pandiyan arrested three persons in connection with this and seized equipment, computers, CD and DVD writers worth Rs 1.8 crore.

According to police, VCDs of latest Tamil movies like 'Paruthiveeran', 'Unnale Unnale', 'Periyar', some pornographic VCDs and labels of the forth coming Rajini movie 'Sivaji' were impounded.

The arrested were identified as Sagayarajan (33), the press proprietor, and his employees Johnson (32) and Thamizharasan (33).

Two others, Joseph Selvin and Khaja, were said to be absconding, the police said.
