Uttarakhand Sikh Forum demands arrest of Dera Chief

Dehra Dun, May 17 (UNI) Uttarakhand Sikh Forum today submitted a memorandum to President A P J Abdul Kalam demanding the arrest of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

Members of the Forum took out procession to the Collectorate here and forwarded the memorandum to the President through the District Administration.

Convenor of the forum, Harbhajan Singh Anand, said the incident has outraged the Sikh community and it might further flare in future. Hence, the Dera Sacha Sauda chief ought to be arrested immediately.

The Forum chief said it was a conspiracy against the Sikh community and should be handed over to CBI for probe.

Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand Wing of Shiromani Akali Dal expressed its resentment over the incident. SAD Secretary Bhajan Singh Kala said the action of Dera Sacha Sauda has hurt the sentiments of Sikh Community and it would not be forgiven till its chief apologised to the Akal Takht.
