Patna, May 17(UNI) Former Bihar Chief Minister and senior JD(U) leader Jagannath Mishra today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take immediate steps to end ULFA attacks on the Biharis in Asom.

Apprehending that such random attack would pose a ''serious threat to the country's federal structure''if no effective steps were taken immediately, Dr Mishra in a statements here regretted that only Hindi speaking people, specially those from Bihar, were targeted by ULFA militants in Asom.

''In fact more than 100 people from Bihar have so far been gunned down in extremist attacks since January this year,'' Dr Mishra said and charged the Tarun Gagoi government with failing to protect lives and property of the people.

''More than five million hindi speaking people are living in Asom for generations and they could not be scared out from the state by violent attacks of ULFA, '' Dr Mishra said and hoped that the Centre would soon take stern measures to end the violence once and for all.
