Tripura: Investigation into mass rape incident
Agartala, May 17: Police have launched an investigation into the May 12 mass rape incident at Dalakcherra of Amarpur sub-division in South Tripura.
Seven tribal women were allegedly raped by some unidentified people, adding initial medical tests conducted on the victims confirmed the allegation, the police said today.
''We have received official complaints. But since it did not mention anybody's name, the investigation is being delayed,'' the police said and added that a sketch of the accused had already been prepared.
Meanwhile, a three-member delegation, led by Tripura Women's Commission chairman Prof Tapati Chakraborty, met the rape victims and their families yesterday.
