Tripura police launched investigation into mass rape incident
Agartala, May 17 (UNI) Police have launched an investigation into the May 12 mass rape incident at Dalakcherra of Amarpur sub-division in South Tripura.
Police today said seven tribal women were allegedly raped by some unidentified miscreants, adding initial medical tests conducted on the victims had confirmed the allegation.
'' We have received official complaints. But since it did not mention anybody's name, the investigation is being delayed, '' police said and added that a sketch of the criminals had already been prepared.
Meanwhile, a three-member delegation, led by Tripura Women's Commission chairman Prof Tapati Chakraborty, met the rape victims and their families yesterday.
