Top Hizb wireless operator apprehended in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 17 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police today claimed to have arrested a top Hizbul Mujahideen wireless operator during a raid at Shah Nagri in Handwara area of frontier Kupwara district.

The Superintendent of Police (SP), Handwara, said a police party apprehended the Hizb militant, identified as Abdul Ghani Kumar, from Shah Nagri during a search operation.

During the questioning, he said Kumar was working as a radio and wireless operator for the Hizb.

One Kenwood wireless set and a UBGL was also seized from his possession, the SP added.

He said a case under section 25 of the Indian Arms Act was registered against Kumar in the Handwara police station.
