Three new management courses in Rajasthan

Jaipur, May 17: Rajasthan University's R A Podar Institute of Management will start three new courses to cater to the needs of qualified manpower in the tourism, event management and entrepreneurship sectors.

While the three-year degree course in entrepreneurship (B.Entrepreneurship) will start from the new academic session beginning July this year, two courses -- MBA (Tourism Management) and MBA (Event Management) -- will be launched from 2008 after due clearance from the University Grants Commission (UGC), the institute Director Dr Rajesh Kothari said today.

Mr Kothari, who assumed the post two days ago, told reporters here that there would be total 30 seats in the first year of the B Entrepreneurship which would be filled through entrance test to be conducted next month. He said the course would sharpen self employment potentials of the aspiring students and would impart them managerial training to enable them to launch their own ventures.

The institute also wanted to open MBA (Entrepreneurship) course from the next year, Mr Kothari said.

Besides, the proposals for opening courses of MBA(Tourism Management) and MBA (Event Management) had been sent to the UGC for its approval and the same might be opened from next year after due clearance from the commission, he added.

The institute has been conducting MBA courses for the past three decades, he added.
