Temperature continues to rise, rain in some parts

Kolkata, May 17 (UNI) Overcast sky in the morning with few spells of rain failed to bring the much needed relief from the sweltering heat to the people of the city.

Rainfall occured only in some parts of the city.

Although the sky remained cloudy, mercury kept rising.

Maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 34.9 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 25.5 degrees.

The maximum relative humidity was pegged at 96 per cent and the minimum was at 59 per cent.

Met officials predict partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thundershowers towards evening or night.

Maximum temperature for the next 24-hours would be around 35 degrees Celsius.
