Sikh sectarian violence being brought under control: Cabinet

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today discussed the situation arising from the sectarian violence among the Sikh community in Punjab and Haryana and felt that law and order was improving fast in the two states.

The Centre was in constant consultation with the two states and all were working together to bring the situation under control, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.

The Cabinet felt that the television channels could help a great deal in this regard by not sensationalising the issue, the Minister said.
