Russia to supply "Gorshkov" aircraft carrier by 2008 end

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The country will receive Russian ''Admiral Gorshkov'' aircraft carrier by the end of 2008, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Defence Minister A K Anthony, in a written reply, said Russia had assured at the highest level that the ship would be delivered as per contract. The aircraft carrier was undergoing the necessary repairs/modifications in Russia at present.

He said the project was being closely monitored by the Empowered Apex Committee, headed by the Defence Secretary, and the Steering Committee, headed by the Controller of Warship production and acquisition.
