Rajya Sabha adjourned sine die

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said many of the codes of conduct that members had to adhere to were ''forgotten'' and there were many instances of disruptions during the current session of the Rajya Sabha which was adjourned sine die today.

''Members must reflect on what has happened...everything is not right in the parliamentary system,'' Dr Singh said in his valedictory address to the Upper House.

Dr Singh hoped that the next Monsoon Session would be conducted in a cooler and calmer atmosphere.

Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat said the session, which commenced on February 23, was scheduled till May 22, but as decided, was concluding today.

He said during the session several important businesses were transacted, including the General Budget and Railway Budget. Other Bills include the Banking Regulations (amendment Bill), 2007, the Taxation Laws (amendment) Bill, State Bank of India Amendment Bill 2007 which were passed during the session.

''I hope the Bills passed by the House would provide a momentum to our development and bring about desired changes in the system,'' Mr Shekawat said.

He said during the session 150 special mentions were made and hoped that the Ministries concerned will ensure proper action on the issues mentioned and would convey to the members concerned the desired information as early as possible.
