RAC to adopt innovative measures to recruit and retain talent
Bangalore, May 17(UNI) The Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has recommended various measures to the Centre to attract and retain talent in premier defence research establishments across the country.
Centre Chairman K V Raghavan told newsmen here last night that the proposals included career promotions, incentive schemes, productivty linked incentives and sabbatical leave before other ben He said RAC had the mandate to provide Human Resource requirement to various DRDO wings besides assessment of scientists for promotion.
He said RAC helped induction of about 1000 scientists every year and also assesses the suitability of more than 1400 scientists for promotion to next higher grade, have constantly evolving its efforts to retain and recruit best brains for DRDO.
Dr Raghavan said DRDO had over 31000 staff including about 7000 scientists and another 12000 Technical staff. RAC had imbibed several best features of UPSC while adopting its own innovative methods for selection of personnel to deploy in critical technologies relevant to national security.
He said that RAC in its effort to attract best brains for the services of DRDO also conduct annual camp selections at 27 National Institutes of excellence including IIT's, NIT's besides conducting Scientist Entry Test (SET) for entry-level recruitment. The Selection process which was hailed as most transparent and unbiased was being done by IITs' for RAC while maintaining GOI roster system in recruitment.
He said that once appointed the DRDO takes utmost care of the career-advancement of its scientists and operates a fully Flexible Complementing Scheme (FCS) wherein each promotion, based purely on merit basis, the post in the grades of Scientist 'B' to 'G' are upgraded automatically to the next higher grades.
