Power cut; AIADMK to observe fast in Karur on May 18
Chennai, May 17 (UNI) The opposition AIADMK will observe a day's fast in Karur on May 18, to protest against the ''unannounced'' power cut in the district.
In a statement here, AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa said in view of the ''power cut'' and frequent electricity failures, a cross section of the people, including students, farmers, weavers and traders were put to great hardship.
The fast would be led by Karur district secretary and party legislator Senthil Balaji, she said and appealed the party cadres from all wings to take part in the fast in large numbers.
As the issue concerned about public interest, general public and traders should take part in large numbers and extend their support, she added.
