Police file case under Gujarat anti-conversion law against 2

Anand, May 17 (UNI) Police today registered a First Information Report (FIR) against two administrators of a religious college here for allegedly converting a minor to Christianity.

Vijay Kumar Ramanbhai Vankar, a resident of Vatadara village in Khambhat taluka of the district, filed a complaint yesterday with the town police, alleging that the two administrators of Alpha Bible College G U Nathan and P Selvan converted minor Raisinh Vasava of Darda village in Umarpada taluka in Surat district to Christianity.

In his complaint, Vijay Kumar stated that the college has been resorting to conversions of young pupils, and the latest being the case of Vasava, police said.

Anand Town Police Inspector M D Lathia told UNI that they have registered the case against Nathan and Selvan under Gujarat's Anti-Conversion Act 2003. The law was applied in this case because the concerned boy is a minor, aged 15.

As per the birth certificate of the boy, he is a Hindu. Raisinh, was a minor and whatever action needs to be taken under the act will be taken in the case, he added.
