Police action demanded for "insulting" Mahatma Gandhi

Jaipur, May 17 (UNI) The Rajasthan Samagra Seva Sangh will seek intervention from the court is intervention the police failed to take action against those who had allegedly made disrespectful utterances against Mahatma Gandhi at a function organised reportedly by Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad(ABVP) here on May 10 last.

The seva sangh president Sawai Singh told UNI that in a programme-Bharatmata Ki Aarti'' organised here on May 10 by the ABVP, one of the speakers Satya Narain Maurya alias Maurya Baba had made insulting utterances against the father of the nation and had even termed the Mahatma as father of Pakistan.

Mr Singh said that several top leaders of BJP state unit were also present at the programme and none of them opposed the objectionable utterances which tantamounted to be the insult of symbols and people of national honours.

He said that today he tried to lodge an FIR at the Gandhi Nagar police station under the Prevention of Insult to National Honours Act 1971, against the accused. However, the police refused to register an FIR and instead accepted the complaint for investigation.

The Gandhian leader said that if the police failed to take action against the guilty within next 2 or 3 days he would move to the court to seek legal intervention in the matter.
