Pangolin spotted in Panna park
Panna, MP, May 17 (UNI) An endangered mammal 'pangolin' was spotted in Nau Hills area of Panna National Park in Madhya Pradesh.
Panna National Park's Additional Director A K Nagar spotted this 100 cm long anteater a fortnight ago.
Wildlife experts said pangolin is a nocturnal animal and its prime sources of food are ants, termites and its eggs.
They believe the reason for the declining number of this mammal is the use of its organs, due to superstitions, in the treatment of arthritis and piles.
Park authorities are very excited after watching this rare animal and special efforts are being made for its conservation, Mr Nagar said.
