Nagpur, May 17 (UNI) Refuting allegations of harassment of Thomas Pareira, one of the four naxals arrested on May 8, the police today said it is a propaganda unleashed by the naxals to divert their attention.

Talking to newsmen here, Additional Commissioner of Police (crime) Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay said the police are working in the legal framework to interrogate the four hardcore naxals.

Some voluntary agencies and human rights' bodies are in defence of Pareira, describing him as a social activist. They have accused the police of falsely implicating him in the case.

Mr Upadhyay wondered how a social activist could be in the company of a hardcore naxal like Murli. Moreover, the information gathered from Pareira'a pen drive had a lot of classified information, sufficient enough to prove his naxal links.

Meanwhile, the police have decided to conduct a narco test on all the four naxals. The police have moved to court in this regard, which has cleared the proposal.

The test is expected to throw further light on the naxal activities and give details of their involvement in many other cases. This could also give information on their links and future plans to create violence in the society.
